It sees the need and offers up ideas, to solve the artistic problem. Example: your trying to think of the end of a story your writing. Your subconscious has three great ideas and offers them to you and you pick the best one. Your really excited and doing art is a lot of fun and you really get into it. But if you do art a lot it gets to a point where the subconscious starts to run dry of ideas. Your particular answers to artistic questions that are floating back there in the subconscious, get used up, then if you continue to do art and are trying to come up with artistic ideas, they seem extremely familiar
