Porc-a-fix
Porc a fix

crown update from yesterday…?
Thanks for those of you who responded to my question yesterday. I called my dentist and found out that a porc. crown will cost me $1080 minus the cost of the filling she already did on the tooth ($210). Does this sound like a lot of money? She doesn’t think I will need a root canal. My tooth is still really sensitive, especially near the gums. I have had one root canal done years ago on another tooth, and it feel like the same thing. Do you think I should get a second opinion or just get the tooth fixed. Thanks!
Actually, that’s a pretty good price for a crown. I paid right at that two years ago to have one replaced. I think you should leave the decision about the root canal up to the dentist, who has the expertise to make that call. You will have to live with a temporary crown for a short bit anyway, and if one is needed it will make itself known in that time as a rule. Besides, getting a second opinion will cost even more- because the second dentist will want to do their own xrays and exam all over again. All that to hear you still need a crown and possibly a root canal- and may not save a dime over the cost? Most dentists in an area charge pretty much the same thing anyway. If you like this dentist, and trust her- stick with her.
