Diy Project

How hard is it to remove wallpaper as a DIY project– or should I hire a professional (it’s a large room)?

It is not hard but it can be time consuming. Vinegar and water (about 1 part to 3 parts) is used to dissolve the glue or a product called DIF for stubborn jobs. Start by buying something called a “Paper Tiger” which you roll around on top of the paper. It puts holes in the paper, allowing the vinegar/water or DIF to get underneath. Use a spray bottle for the vinegar mixture and after waiting a few minutes start peeling. The think white paper backing will almost always be left, needing a second application with the use of a putty knife to scrape it off.
Don’t expect paper to come off in the big sheets it was in originally, sometimes it just peels away in annoyingly little bits.
